The end of the semester is, and always will be, fast and furious. Next Thursday is stop day, and then a couple finals will stand between me and my break. This is the last final push and I can’t give up now. Isn’t it ironic how motivation wanes at the point in the semester that you need it most? Time to dig in! At least I get to study by this wonderful Christmas tree…

It’s the holiday season. 🙂

I have been switching up my exercise routine a lot lately. After running the marathon, I have been craving a more strength-based workout routine. In lieu of running miles and miles, I have been been running STAIRS, and doing more jumping jacks, burps, wall-sits, push ups, tricep dips, squats, planks and plyometrics in general. The key is to keep moving. I usually set a timer and go at one of the exercises hard for 40 seconds, rest for 20 seconds, and go at it again with a new exercise movement. I usually alternate between a cardio move and a strength move. It’s a workout for both your mind and body because you have to think of exercises on the fly. I love it because it’s not boring and allows me to be creative with movement. Best of both worlds! I feel like I have been getting a wonderful workout using this philosophy. Yesterday, I did 30 minutes of stairs and 30 minutes of my “creativity workout”. So fun! Way more interesting than running for an hour. I love running, but sometimes change is necessary!

Aside from that, I am back at school and eating the regular mashup of healthy foods I can find. 🙂

My breakfast mashup:

  • Walnuts
  • Almonds
  • Raisins
  • Half of a banana (sliced)
  • Greek yogurt
  • Rolled oats
  • And some Truvia sprinkled on top. I needed a little added sweetness this morning. 🙂

Not too shabby for a college meal.
