“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” -Anne Frank
I love this quote. I love it because it hits the nail on the head. You don’t have to wait to be someone or to do something worthwhile. The power to do that is with you at this very moment. It just takes a little courage, energy and motivation. Anne Frank definitely was a thinker.
Thinkers are the best kind of people to surround yourself with. Thinkers can open your mind to new ideas. New ideas are the real thing. They are the essence of life. Ideas spark and instigate changing the world and improving the quality of daily life. Without ideas, minds would be blank slates with nothing to offer. The world would be a pretty boring place. The thinkers are the idea-makers. They are the people who are constantly pushing the edge to test the limits of life.
In order to write, you have to possess ideas. And they have to be GOOD ideas. That is why I love writing and I find most writers to be extremely interesting and passionate people. Writers have strong ideas and a yearning to communicate them . The magazine industry is filled with creative ideas and passionate people. It has to be an exciting and inspiring place. The people that I have met through my online writing internships have been go-getters with solid ideas and above all, thinkers.
Okay so I will get off of my philosophical soap box and come back to reality! 🙂
I ran an easy 8 miles this morning and it felt great. I have to say, I am having some serious issues with my long hair though. You might be wondering what my long hair and running have to do with each other so I will fill in the gap. My hair waves in humidity and it is the longest it has ever been. I usually put it in a ponytail and as it swings back and worth throughout the run, it works itself into a tangled mess. This tangled mess is nothing a squirt of conditioner can fix. I literally have to use many, many globs of conditioner to get my hair back to its normal state. So, as you can see by my in-depth explanation, I am very annoyed with this situation. My solution? I am getting a haircut! Tomorrow! I am overjoyed and I can’t wait to avoid terrible tangles for a very long time. Who knew hair could pose such running problems in a girl’s life? 🙂
I am a Special Olympics soccer coach and today was the first practice. I have been coaching for about a year and I have to say, it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. The kids are energetic, appreciative and happy (most of the time). It is really satisfying not only to teach the athletes how to play soccer, but to bring a positive experience to their day. I always come away from practice with a better attitude and perspective than when I arrived. I feel like experiences like being a coach for kids with disabilities can teach you more than school ever can. I know I have learned a lot from those kids and their charmed outlook on the little things in life.
Time to get some work done! I just finished a chocolate coffee Lara bar and I am powered up.
By the way, I just read this article and I love the realistic words of advice that these editors have to share with aspiring magazine writers: http://www.ed2010.com/2010/08/13-must-know-tips-your-senior-year-college
