I love my schedule, but WOW this is going to be one busy semester! Today I literally slid my way to class because of all of the ICE. So much for that beautiful spring preview this weekend! Let’s look at the positive side, a possible snow day might be in the future! Yes I am a college student that still gets antsy in anticipation of a day off school due to blizzard conditions. 🙂

Todays workout:

30 minute treadmill workout:

0-5 min: {Warm up} 5.5-6 mph

5-6 min: Incline- 3.0 Speed 8 mph

6-7 min: Speed 9 mph

7-8 min: {Recovery} Speed 7 mph

… Repeat this 3 min sequence to minute 25….

25-30 min: {Cool down} 6 mph

Walk 5 minutes to cool the muscles down!

Then I made my way over to the LIFT class at the rec center. What a killer! I suggest taking any 1 hour weight class. Group fitness helps keep you motivated and you can get the most bang for your buck time-wise. That’s why I do it! It mainly focuses on muscular  endurance, and it gives you your appropriate dose of resistance training. Build muscle and fend off osteoporosis!

Walked a mile on the track for a nice and relaxing cool down.

Now for lunch, and what an epic lunch I had! Always make sure to eat protein and carbs (preferably) 30 minutes after the strength training workout. Realistically we can’t do this  every single time, so just get some fuel as soon as possible. This way your muscle has nutrients to work with to repair the muscle that you just broke down!

Spinach salad with onions, pecans, dried cranberries, feta cheese and drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette

1 delectable orange (vitamin C… those colds are going around!)

Side of quinoa with shitake mushrooms and kale (can you say jam packed with SUPER foods, yay for powerhouse foods)

Mango glazed shrimp skewer

1 piece whole grain bread

1 cup Unsweetened coconut milk

and for dessert…

1 cup peppermint tea and a dove dark chocolate.

Yes, I won’t lie, it was feasting time at my humble abode. I credit Whole Foods for this lovely meal. Sadly my life isn’t full of the lovely Whole Foods cuisine every day (a girl can dream though, haha), but today was Monday , a perfect time to treat myself!

Time to get back to life, a.k.a. NUTRITION class.
